Claus V. Hemmingsen to leave Maersk
Claus V. Hemmingsen will step down as Vice CEO of A.P. Moller - Maersk and CEO of the Energy division, having successfully concluded the separation of Maersk Tankers, Maersk Oil and Maersk Drilling as part of the transformation initiated in 2016 to focus A.P. Moller - Maersk on becoming the global integrator of container logistics.
The Energy division will close down latest by the end of June 2019, and Claus Hemmingsen will subsequently leave A.P. Moller - Maersk.
The Board of Directors acknowledges Claus Hemmingsen's dedicated and significant contribution to A.P. Moller - Maersk, where he has served as Member of the Executive Board since 2007 and as Vice CEO and CEO of the Energy division since September 2016.

Claus Hemmingsen joined A.P. Moller - Maersk in 1981 as a shipping trainee and has been stationed in Hong Kong, Singapore and Denmark, where he has held several leading positions within both the shipping and offshore industries. He was CEO for Maersk Drilling from 2005 and until his appointment as Vice CEO of A.P. Moller - Maersk and CEO of the Energy division.

The Energy division has since 2016 found new ownership structures for Maersk Tankers, Maersk Oil and Maersk Drilling focused on protecting the assets and capabilities of the businesses. Thus while strengthening the financial flexibility of A.P. Moller - Maersk and freeing up resources to focus future growth on container logistics, executing on USD 12bn worth of corporate transactions.

Moller - Maersk's energy businesses, enabling their continued development and growth under new ownership structures. Claus Hemmingsen will continue representing A.P. Moller - Maersk in his capacity as Vice CEO and CEO of the Energy division until he steps down.
A.P. Moller - Maersk will host a farewell reception for Claus Hemmingsen at Maersk Headquarters, Esplanaden 50, 1098 Copenhagen on 19 June 2019 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.

Claus Hemmingsen. Born in 1962.
Claus Hemmingsen has since 2007 been a member of the Executive Board. Since September 2016, he has served as Vice CEO and CEO for the Energy division, responsible for the separation of the oil and oil-related activities from A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S.
Claus Hemmingsen joined A.P. Moller - Maersk in 1981 as a shipping trainee. After having completed his shipping education, he joined Maersk Drilling's Human Resource Department, and in 1989 transferred to Maersk Line.
After being stationed in Hong Kong for Maersk Line (1992-1997) and in Singapore (1997-2000), Claus Hemmingsen returned to Hong Kong in 2000 where he served as Managing Director, where he had the overall responsibility for Maersk's activities in the Hong Kong SAR. In 2003, Claus Hemmingsen returned to the Head Office in Copenhagen as Senior Vice President responsible for the container activities' Global Service Delivery, including Global Shared Service Centres. He simultaneously held responsibility for APM Terminals until June 2004, before taking over responsibility for Maersk Drilling and Maersk Supply Service in 2005, for SVITZER A/S in 2008 and for Maersk Tankers in 2012. Claus Hemmingsen was CEO for Maersk Drilling until October 2016.
Claus Hemmingsen has supplemented his education with management courses at London Business School, Cornell University, holds an Executive MBA (honours) from IMD and in 2018 completed an International Directors Programme at INSEAD.
