According to the newspaper BÝrsen, Kalundborg Harbor has concluded a 99-year lease agreement on an area for the forthcoming harbor expansion. The rental agreement, which the municipality of Kalundborg is responsible will cost the harbor 253 million DKK over the next 99 years.

It is Christian count Lerche-Lerchenborg who has concluded the agreement that will secure him and his descendants more than a quarter of a billion over the next 99 years.

Kalundborg Harbor will expand and invest more on containers and therefore need the area that is owned by Lerchenborg. But since the Count will not sell the land - and the bureaucrats do not want to expropriate - they have instead signed the rental agreement, which is now heavily criticized by Professor of Financial Management at Aalborg University, Per Nikolaj Bukh:

"I cannot recall any situation where municipalities have taken on such unfavorable and burdensome agreements," he says to BÝrsen.

Kalundborg Harbor has not wanted to comment on the agreement to BÝrsen, as it is confidential, while Christian count Lerche-Lerchenborg argues that he has not wanted to sell, as a lot of land has already been sold from the estate.
