Cyber-attack did not lead to loss of customers

The violent cyber-attack that caused Maersk Line, APM Terminals and Damco to go down for a couple of weeks has not caused the companies loss of customers. Søren Skou, CEO of A.P. Møller – Maersk said so at the teleconference in connection with the first half-yearly financial statements.

A.P. Møller - Maersk expects the cyber-attack at the end of June will cost the group between $ 200-300 million primarily due to lost revenue in July. It is lots of money, but more important for A.P. Møller - Maersk is that the attack does not affect customers in the long run.

"There are no negative long-term effects of the cyber-attack," Søren Skou stated on this morning's teleconference.
"We have no indication that our customers are leaving us because of the crash. On the contrary, we have experienced that our customers have been very understanding. I think many business owners think that it could also happen to their own business. And we see that companies are actually trying to help each other in such a situation," said Søren Skou.

In the interim accounts, A.P. Møller – Maersk stated that in response to the attack of the new type of malware, the group has launched a number of additional security measures and continues to check the systems to defend against attacks.
