It was a humble and happy Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen who, as CEO of the Port of Frederikshavn, received Frederikshavn trade council’s Growth and Willingness Business Award 2018 in front of 230 guests in the Music House together with Chairman of the Board Bo Uggerhøj.

“We feel so proud and humble to receive the award due to the fact that it is ta business award. We are grateful for the recognition” says Mikkel Seedorff Sørensen.

”During these last few years, the Port of Frederikshavn has built its own business meanwhile acting as a growth engine for many other companies in the city that have had an ambitious expansion. Companies located at the port have been taking in more orders, companies have established themselves at the port, and new ones are on the way. While these things has been going on, the port broke records with a profit of 21.1 million Danish kroner in 2017”, were amongst the things said as the award was given-

Back in fall, the Port of Frederikshavn finished the first stage of a port expansion that entails 600 meters of quay, 11 meters water depht and 330.000 square feet of backland area, which is almost entirely rented out already. The port therefore decided to begin a second port expansion that is expected to be finished in the third quarter of 2019.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award went to 23 year old Lars Sørensen from Skagen who back in January 2017 bought his own vessel S440 Sofie Lykke, which he uses primarily to fish for Norway lobster and cod.
