New simulator at Engineering Academy
An advanced ship simulator at the academy of Technology Management and Marine Engineering in Copenhagen, trains students in all technical systems onboard a very large crude carrier (VLCC), but is also used to practice communication and prioritizing for when emergencies occur.
The alarms goes of in the engine room and the newly qualified marine engineer has to take responsibility for the first time. The alarm list is long. So what is the top priority? Is there a fire? A leak? A blocked filter? A dysfunctional pump? The sound level is almost at 100 dB and the temperature is close to 60 degrees Celsius.
