DMD will focus on safety and climate

Danish maritime education sector Det Blå Danmark (The Blue Denmark in English) will meet during the first days of May, as the maritime industry opens up doors for the annual Danish Maritime Days (DMD). At the events, everything from sea economies to safety issues in the Gulf of Guinea will be discussed. This years events, which will take place all over Copenhagen, will focus on safety and climate.

"The Danish Maritime Days is an evident opportunity to gather the maritime sector and debate the challenges and opportunities that impacts the industry. Therefore, we are pleased to host the first event of the week, "says Anne H. Steffensen, CEO of Danish Shipping.

The opening reception takes place on May 1 at Danish Shipping, in collaboration with the Danish Maritime Authority and Danish Maritime, who are the three main forces behind this year's Danish Maritime Days. At the event, guest will be able to hear a speech from CEO of Maersk Line, Søren Toft, and get an overview of the activities that will be accuring during the Danish Maritime Days.

The Danish Maritime Days is an open platform across the Det Blå Danmark, where everybody can partake by arranging events that take place in different locations. The events are a chance for shipping companies, equipment suppliers, politicians and investment advisers to meet at both formal and informal events.

Danish Shipping will host several events during the week, both in their own venues and in collaboration with other companies. For example, the Clipper Group are hosting an event in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding the topic of safety in the Gulf of Guinea. Besides this, Danish Shipping will host events that focus on climate and environment issues.

The event venue Lokomotivværkstedet in Copenhagen will once again facilitate the Danish Maritime Fair this year, where numerous exhibitors will showcase the latest technology in shipping. Danish Shipping are sticking with traditions by having the Shipping Lounge, where the shipping companies will show up to network on a common stand. The Danish Minister for Industry, Brian Mikkelsen, will also stop by on Thursday May 3.

"The Shipping Lounge is becoming a tradition where the many shipping companies and exhibitors have the opportunity to share their experiences and network. This year, they have also had the opportunity to become more aware of the many business opportunities, which thesea provides, "says Anne H. Steffensen

The new conference 'Opening Oceans Conference', held by Nor-Shipping will also take place in Lokomotivværkstedet on May 2 and 3.
