Five consortiums may bid for port expansion

Five consortiums may bid for port expansion

24-03-2017 12:00:00

Hanstholm Harbour and its consultant, Rambøll, has selected five consortiums that are allowed to prepare offers on the forthcoming expansion of the port, which is estimated at half a billion kroner and will take about three years to realize.

"It has generally been a very strong field of entrepreneurs from home and abroad, who have handed in their application. Besides Danish contractors the field consists of contractors from Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and Italy. Most of the contractors have extensive experience with hydraulic engineering projects around the world and many of them have previously solved very large hydraulic engineering projects. We are therefore very pleased with the field of consortiums that have volunteered and have been selected, and we look forward to the further process," says Chairman Hanstholm Harbour, Martin Vestergaard.

A total of eight consortiums have asked to be prequalified. This had to be cut down to five consortiums that are selected on the basis of a detailed review of the individual consortiums economy, experience from similar projects, equipment etc. The consirtiums are:

1. Per Aarsleff (UK), VG (DK), Rohde Nielsen (DK) and COWI

2. Boskalis / Arkil JV consisting of Boskalis (NL), Arkil A/S (DK), Arkil Foundation (DK) and Niras (DK)

3. BAM int. (NL), BAM infra (NL) and Dredging International NV (BE)

4. Van Oord (NL) CG Jensen (DK) and Sweco (SE)

5. Condotte (IT) and Jan de Nul (BE)

Now starts the next phase, where the five consortiums will prepare a design and bid for the job. Once the winning consortium is found, the parties will prepare a detailed project so that construction work can begin in the spring of 2018. The new Hanstholm Harbour is expected to be completed in late 2020.

"When design and price have been submitted, the rounds of negotiations will start with the consortiums in order to find the best possible project within the economic framework that is available. During October this year, we will have found the winning consortium," says Peter Bak Frederiksen, senior project manager at Rambøll.
